I am new to Copper and am still in the process of setting things up for our team. One thing I need help is regarding Projects and tasks. What have you found is the best way to use these features for internal tasks related to business ops, marketing, sales, technology? Meaning, they are not necessarily attached to a customer. I can’t decide if it would be best to create a project for each category and put tasks within those or to just create tasks, not attaching them to a person. The main thing we want to be able to do is generate a report of tasks by responsible person and due date.

Hi Wendy! Thanks for reaching out to us on Copper Community. What a great question you have about tasks and projects!

We recommend creating projects for when a whole team of people is involved or when you need to make several things happen within a scope of one framework. You can assign different tasks to different people in a project too. Tasks are more of a single action item that you or another user need to accomplish. They can be set as one-offs or as a recurring reminder (daily, weekly, monthly etc.). Tasks can be related to specific people in your Copper space, companies or opportunities, or not related to anything at all. Feel free to read more about tasks here: https://support.copper.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003594532.

You mentioned needing a report with the owners and due dates.  It sounds like what you really need is a list of all the tasks that fit a certain criteria - you can do that by setting a filter on your filter list (see screenshot). You could also create a “report” through our reporting system but I believe that would be overkill for your particular ask. Let me know if you feel the same!
