If i import leads from a file with accents

email,first,last,name,name
mel.nallee@company.com,Mél,Nallée,Mél Nallée

in copper it will end up mangled, like below.

I can later edit the contact to fix it, but can the import please be fixed to handle accents?

Hi @donbowman, this can happen with CSV file - I believe it’s related to how the characters are encoded (UTF-8/16/etc). I have found it’s best just to switch to XLSX when importing anything with special characters.

the CSV is correct, i can read it just fine in my shell.

I don’t have access to Microsoft Excel, so i cannot use xlsx.

also, the source of the data produces CSV.

@donbowman If you upload it to Google Drive, it will give you an option to Open with Google Sheets. From there you can re-download it as an XLSX file.

As for the importing tool itself, our product team would need to investigate further. If you’d like I can convert this thread to an Idea for them to look at. Just let me know and I can do that.
